What Decatur Clients Usually Bring Us

Decatur draws academics, public health and nonprofit staff, physicians, and people who have lived in the same house for a long time.

A 403(b), a pension, and no idea how they fit

University faculty and staff often have a 403(b), a pension or Teachers Retirement System benefit, and a spouse with a 401(k). We line up the benefit rules, the investment menus, and the retirement date so the pieces work together.

Public health and nonprofit careers with modest pay and good benefits

Staff at agencies and nonprofits near Decatur trade higher salaries for pensions, 457 plans, and loan forgiveness. We help you use those benefits fully and build savings outside them without stretching a tight budget.

Retiring near Emory with a paid-off house

Longtime residents want to know if they can stay in Decatur, how to draw income from savings, and how to leave the house to their kids sensibly. We build the income plan and coordinate with your estate attorney.

Common Questions from Decatur Clients

Do you have an office in Decatur?

No. Our office is in Midtown at 999 Peachtree St NE, Suite 418, at Peachtree and 10th. From Decatur you can drive in on Ponce de Leon Avenue or take the Blue Line to Five Points and transfer to a northbound train. We also meet by video whenever that is more convenient.

Can I get to your office from Decatur on MARTA?

Yes. Decatur station is on the Blue Line. Ride to Five Points, change to a northbound Red or Gold train, and exit at Midtown station at Peachtree and 10th. The office is a short walk from there. If the transfer is a hassle, a video meeting covers the same ground.

Is there an account minimum?

No. Attend has no account minimum. A graduate student with a first 403(b), a nonprofit employee with a pension, and a retired professor with a large portfolio are all welcome. We charge for planning and advice, and we explain how that is structured before any work starts.

How does Attend get paid?

Attend is a fee-based registered investment adviser. Our advisory fees are disclosed in writing before you sign. If an insurance product fits your plan, an advisor may earn a commission on it, and that is disclosed before anything is placed. We would rather explain compensation up front than have you wonder about it.

Are you a fiduciary?

Advisory services are held to a fiduciary standard, which means the advice we give in an advisory relationship must be in your interest. We document each recommendation and its reasoning, and we tell you about any compensation beyond the advisory fee before you make a decision.

Do you understand university retirement plans and the Teachers Retirement System?

Yes. Many Decatur clients have a 403(b), a 457, or a Teachers Retirement System pension, sometimes all three. We review the plan options, the vesting and payout rules, and how the pension election affects a spouse, then fit those pieces into a full plan for taxes, investments, and estate.
