Our Story

How Attend came to be.

For over 20 years, Tony Colunga managed hundreds of millions of dollars for high-net-worth clients at Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and BBVA Global Wealth Advisors. He was good at it. But he kept noticing the same thing: the physicians in his book of business were being treated as revenue targets, not as people with genuinely unique financial needs. Their debt burdens, their income timelines, their career stages. None of it was reflected in the advice they were getting. So he walked away and built something new: a practice that would serve physicians where they are, from residency through retirement. Attend Wealth opened on January 1, 2020.

That same year, Tony contracted COVID-19 and nearly died in the ICU. His wife, Dr. Abana Azariah, collaborated with her best friend, herself a physician and now an Attend advisory board member, to guide his care. He survived. Weeks later, his brother contracted COVID and did not. In the grief and gratitude that followed, Tony's mission came into sharper focus than ever before.

Attend is my love letter to Abana and to every physician who puts others first. The goal is simple: give physicians the financial tools and confidence to achieve independence, so they can spend less energy worrying about money and more energy doing the work they were called to do.

Leadership

Meet the Founders.

Founder & CEO

Tony Colunga

Tony spent over 20 years at Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and BBVA Global Wealth Advisors before founding Attend on January 1, 2020. His conviction is simple: physicians deserve a financial advisor who understands what it actually means to carry medical school debt, work 60-hour weeks, and plan for a retirement that starts a decade later than most professionals.

His near-death experience in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the loss of his brother shortly after, gave Attend its soul. He built this firm as a love letter to his wife and to the profession that saved his life.
